We ran the searches a Victoria resident would run, recorded every page-one result, and checked each business against BC's public lists of licensed cannabis stores. Captured 2026-10-05, two captures the same evening; we plan to re-run monthly.
The same seller, not on BC's licence lists, was in Google's top three for every Victoria delivery search re-run in both captures — and its site offers free cannabis with a $50 order.
In our capture (A), The Greenmates was the first result for "cannabis delivery victoria bc", "weed delivery esquimalt" and "same day weed delivery victoria". An independent reviewer re-ran those three searches about an hour later from Colwood (B) and got a licensed store first on all three, with The Greenmates second, third and second. Who is #1 moves with where and when you search; that it is on page one, in the top three, did not. Licensed stores — Burb, The Original FARM, Kiaro, Seed & Stone, Misty Mountain, Songhees — appear on every page one.
Its free-gifts page: every Wednesday and Friday, "Spend $50 – $99" and "Pick one free gift" — "THC Gummy", "Pre-rolled Joint" or "Kief"; higher tiers add hash, shatter and infused joints. Section 24(1)(a) of the Cannabis Act prohibits providing cannabis free or in consideration of a purchase. It promises three-hour delivery to Victoria and Esquimalt, files products under "I want to experience… Relaxation / Creativity / Social Connection / Mindfulness", and its site HTML carries the gate "You must be over 18 to preview our website" while its legal page says 19 and ID on delivery. No licence number or regulator is named on the pages we read.
Google's map box for "same day weed delivery victoria" showed, in both captures, two listings with no street address — Google Business Profiles with 268 and 225 reviews; one profile's review filters read "freebies" and "gifts". Their service areas are drawn over the Lower Mainland. Neither name matches an entry on BC's lists.
The province says its Community Safety Unit has investigated 1,724 online cannabis stores and disrupted 1,068 (as of 2026-10-01; the same page's summary box says 1,074). Nothing on that page says whether any seller named here has been reported or acted on. This is a dated snapshot: Google results move with time, place and device, so we publish the method and both captures, plan to re-run monthly, and will re-run any search live with anyone who asks.
Capture A: #1 for 'cannabis delivery victoria bc', 'weed delivery esquimalt', 'same day weed delivery victoria'; #3 for 'weed delivery victoria'; #7 'weed delivery near me'. Capture B (independent re-run, same evening, Colwood): #2, #3, #2 on the three queries re-run.
Why it matters: Its free-gifts page offers cannabis — a THC gummy, a pre-rolled joint, kief, hash, shatter — free with a purchase of $50 or more. Cannabis Act s. 24(1)(a) prohibits a seller from providing cannabis free or in consideration of a purchase; a licensed store that did this would be in breach. A cartoon character is prohibited promotion under s. 17(1)(d); filing products by the feeling they produce is the lifestyle association s. 17(1)(e) forbids. Its $40 'pulp' ounce is less than the $48.88–$48.99 Misty Mountain paid the provincial wholesaler for its cheapest 28 g dried flower in September 2026 — different grades, our own invoices, not a market survey.
#9 'same day weed delivery victoria'; #4 'weed delivery near me'

Why it matters: No licence named. We did not buy or test any product and make no claim about its source, testing or stamping.

Why it matters: One reviewer describes free cannabis with an order. If accurate, cannabis provided in consideration of a purchase is what s. 24(1)(a) of the Cannabis Act prohibits. The profile's review filters include 'freebies' and 'gifts'.

Independent reviewer (second-hand: reported to us in writing; we hold no screenshots) · 2026-10-05 ~17:59–18:03 PDT · Google footer showed Colwood; the Esquimalt query heading showed Esquimalt · signed out, pws=0, English/Canada
"weed delivery esquimalt": 1. Misty Mountain Cannabis (licensed 450266) · 2. The Greenmates (not on list) · 3. Kiaro (licensed 450205) · 4. Burb (licensed 450464) · 5. The Original FARM (licensed)

"same day weed delivery victoria": 1. Burb (licensed) · 2. The Greenmates (not on list)
'same day weed delivery victoria' still showed Same Day Cannabis and Canna Club Co cards with phone numbers and no street address; the search cards were labelled 'Delivery Service'; the expanded Canna Club Co profile was labelled 'Cannabis store' (4.9, 225 reviews). Google entity ids seen: Canna Club /g/11pw9yym50, Same Day /g/11wh3rjt02.
Only these three queries were re-run, so capture B says nothing about the other two. Capture B had a licensed store first on all three; capture A had The Greenmates first on all three. The Greenmates was in the top three of every query in both captures.
Five searches typed into Google (google.com, English, Canada) on the evening of October 5, 2026 (Pacific), personalisation off (pws=0), from a laptop that Google located in Metchosin, in Greater Victoria; one search ('weed delivery esquimalt') was additionally localised by Google to Esquimalt. A personalised run of the first two searches minutes earlier gave the same order. Every web result on page one was recorded in order; the map box ('Places') was recorded separately. Each business was checked by name against the BC Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch's public list of licensed private cannabis retail stores (503 stores, API feed of October 5) and against BC Cannabis Stores' published government-store locations (40 stores) — 543 in all. The LCRB feed has no website field, so website-to-licence matches were made by us: we opened each licensed store's own site and recorded its domain (see domainMatches). 'Not on the LCRB list' means the name and website match no entry on either list; it is a statement about those lists, which anyone can re-check, not a finding about the operator's legal identity or any other authorisation it may claim. Site claims were read from the sites the same evening and are quoted or closely paraphrased; two sites (grinchbud.com, happikush.is) did not load from our connection and are listed as seen-in-search only. Google results move with time, location and device. An independent reviewer re-ran three of the searches the same evening from Colwood and recorded a different order (see captures). This is a dated snapshot of two captures; we plan to re-run it monthly and will re-run any search live with a reporter.
Licence lists: BC LCRB, cannabis retail store locations (https://justice.gov.bc.ca/lcrb/api/establishments/map, 503 private stores) and BC Cannabis Stores' published locations (40). Cannabis Act s. 24(1): a seller may not provide cannabis or an accessory free or in consideration of a purchase (a), nor any other thing — including a game, draw, lottery or contest — as an inducement to buy (b). Cannabis Act s. 17(1): prohibited promotion includes (c) testimonials or endorsements, (d) depiction of a person, character or animal, (e) lifestyle association (glamour, recreation, excitement, vitality, risk, daring). Cannabis Act s. 7: the Act's stated purposes include protecting the health of young persons by restricting their access to cannabis, and protecting young persons and others from inducements to use cannabis. (Cannabis Act.) Misty Mountain's own LDB invoices, September 2026: cheapest 28 g dried flower $48.88–$48.99 wholesale; cheapest 28 g dried flower in Misty Mountain's own catalogue $77.99. These are one store's figures, not a survey of the legal market.
Google Ads for cannabis retail in Canada is a limited pilot; Misty Mountain's application has been with Google's policy team since September 14, 2026 without a decision. We make no claim about other licensees' access to advertising.
