Why it matters
Unlicensed sellers — most of the "weed delivery Victoria" sites you'll find online — aren't lab-tested, don't check ID, don't pay excise tax, and give you no recourse if something's wrong. Licensed stores do all four. This tool exists so you can tell the difference in five seconds.
How to tell a licensed store from an unlicensed one
A provincial licence number — private stores display a six-digit Cannabis Retail Store licence (like #450266); government stores are branded "BC Cannabis Stores".
ID at the door, every time — licensed delivery checks government photo ID and never leaves an order unattended. No ID check is the clearest sign of an unlicensed seller.
Tested, labelled product — excise stamp, child-resistant packaging, THC/CBD on the label, and a receipt.
An address you can visit — every licence is tied to a physical store you can walk into.
